* Assessment and Building Capacity

  • It is largely self assessment by the local youth community with assistance from 24-7 YW network where required.
  • Both the assessment and building capacity are usually based around 6 area's

a) Leadership Capacity
Long term leadership, leadership team of volunteers, church support, vision clarity, philosophical suitability, leadership ability, high ownership, learning posture, collaborative attitude

b) Community Connections Capacity
Schools, other churches, community stakeholders

c) YouthWorker Capacity
Long term, Part of team, Clear sense of calling, Strong character

d) Administrative Capacity
Trust – trust deed, trustee’s, financial management - budget, audits, HR, pay roll, tax, funding and reporting, manager, communication, RAMS,

e) Financial Capacity
Volunteerism, funding plan, Church Contribution, School contribution

f) Full Spectrum Program Capacity
Ability to provide a full range services for youth – particularly stuff for first contact out of school.

  • a, b, c are the most important initially and in that order. 24-7 YouthWork can be formalised with a school if these first 3 are strong and things are in place to build d, e & f.
